School-Based Nursing Assistant Paraprofessional
  • $20-24 per Hour
  • 7:15am-3:15pm or 8:45am-4:15pm during the School Year
  • Monday - Thursday
Position Summary:

This one-year contract position for the school year is an ideal opportunity for healthcare-focused professionals who have recently completed their bachelor’s degree and hold a CNA certification. Whether you are preparing to apply to graduate programs, gaining additional hands‑on experience, or exploring different healthcare pathways, this role provides valuable experience working directly with students in a school-based healthcare environment.

As a School-Based Nursing Assistant Paraprofessional, you will support students with medical, developmental, and educational needs while collaborating with teachers, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams. This position allows you to build experience in pediatric care, patient support, special education, and healthcare coordination.

This role is a strong fit for individuals considering future graduate or professional programs such as Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), BSN-to-RN pathways, Speech-Language Pathology (SLP), Occupational Therapy (OT), Physical Therapy (PT), Physician Assistant (PA), Public Health, or other allied health programs. Experience/Requirements:
  • Previous experience as a Paraprofessional, Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, or similar healthcare support role, preferably in a school-based, pediatric, or special education setting.
  • Experience supporting individuals with medical needs, disabilities, developmental differences, or complex care needs preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate documentation.
  • Self-motivated and dependable, with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently while following student care plans and school procedures.
  • Ability to remain calm, flexible, and effective in high-pressure situations while providing compassionate support to students.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of student health information, educational records, and other sensitive data in accordance with applicable regulations.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, nurses, families, and school teams.
  • Responsive, adaptable, and committed to timely communication and follow-through on student and team needs.
  • Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and current auto liability insurance required.
Education/License/Certification:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or a related medically focused field, such as Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Health Sciences, Allied Health, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Speech-Language Pathology, Medical Assisting, or another closely related healthcare discipline.
  • Active Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license in the State of Idaho preferred; candidates with an expired or inactive CNA certification may be considered if eligible and willing to reactivate their license for the role.
