Job summary

KIPP DC is hiring a Licensed Professional Counselor in Washington, DC for the 2026-27 school year. The role focuses on social, emotional, and behavioral well-being, delivering data-driven interventions within MTSS and coordinating with school staff and families.

The position is full-time and exempt, reporting to the school leader and Mental Health Leadership Team. Compensation includes a starting salary of $71,475 with potential renewal add-ons up to $5,000 annually and a comprehensive benefits

Qualifications

• Master's degree in social work or professional counseling is required.
• Licensed Graduate Social Worker or Professional Counselor by DC DOH is required.
• Commitment to working with students with limited access to quality educational opportunities is required.
• Experience in urban public schools is preferred.
• Background checks per School Safety Omnibus Amendment Act of 2018 are required.

Responsibilities

• Provide group and individual counseling and behavior support for students to address social-emotional needs.
• Deliver interventions across MTSS Tier 1–3, including de-escalation and risk management.
• Document progress and outcomes with fidelity to IEP/504 plans and MTSS data.
• Coordinate with school staff and external partners for referrals to mental health services.
• Serve as 504 case manager, track accommodations, and log progress notes.
• Collaborate with leaders, teachers, and families to support student well-being and attendance.
