Job summary

The Charter County of Wayne is seeking a Hearing and Vision Technician I to perform preschool and school-age hearing and vision screenings in Michigan, under the Public Health Code. The role supports local health departments and uses county-wide software to complete assignments in Wayne County and nearby areas.

Under limited supervision, the technician will record results, conduct re-tests as needed, and coordinate follow-up by letter, phone, or conference, while traveling to various schools

Qualifications

• Experience working with children in medical or educational settings is preferred.
• Able to interact effectively with children, parents, and school staff.
• Professional attitude and reliability expected.

Responsibilities

• Provide preliminary hearing screening to children and adolescents
• Provide vision screening to children and adolescents
• Document results correctly and timely
• Enter data into forms/databases and assist with monthly reports
• Complete and submit required forms and timesheets promptly
• Schedule screening sessions in the community
• Make follow-up calls regarding sessions, results, and referrals
• Develop strong working relationships with diverse stakeholders
