Job summary

The Health Technician at Sylvania supports the Coordinator of Health Services in delivering Head Start health activities in Michigan. Responsibilities include screenings, data collection, parent communication, and health education for Head Start children.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma, possible LPN licensure, and certification to conduct vision/hearing tests, plus experience with children and data management.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required.
  • LPN license preferred; certification to conduct vision/hearing testing required or willingness to obtain.
  • Two years’ experience with children in a school or pediatric health setting; data collection and organizing health information preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in implementing Health Services for the Head Start/Early Head Start program.
  • Disseminate health information to staff and parents as requested.
  • Conduct vision and hearing screenings and health measurements; document data.
  • Assist with screening processes for recruitment and enrollment activities.
  • Provide health education and follow-up with parents after screenings.
  • Record chart information for child files.
  • Assist in staff/parent training under the Coordinator of Health Services.
  • Provide health, nutrition and/or physical fitness lessons in classrooms.
  • Model win-win leadership; perform other related duties as assigned.
