Job summary

The New Braunfels Chamber seeks an Occupational Therapy Assistant to support students with disabilities under the supervision of a licensed occupational therapist. The goal is to help students engage in education and participate in the classroom.

Responsibilities include implementing treatment plans, documenting progress, and collaborating with teachers, families, and school staff. TX-licensed OTA with COTA credential is preferred; school-based experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree from an accredited OTA program.
• COTA credential and Texas OTA license.
• Knowledge of rehabilitation procedures and equipment.
• Ability to implement therapy programs and adapt activities for students.
• Strong organization, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage student behavior in multiple settings.
• Ability to prioritize and solve problems in a fast-paced environment.
• Pediatric or school-based therapy experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Implement treatment plans developed by the supervising occupational therapist.
• Deliver safe, appropriate, and effective therapy interventions.
• Monitor student responses and adjust approaches as needed.
• Maintain documentation of student progress and outcomes.
• Participate in ARD/IEP meetings to support student goal development.
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to support student success.
• Provide training to staff and parents regarding OT strategies and equipment.
• Assist with in-home support or training as needed.
• Recommend adaptations and tools to support student access and engagement.
• Support a safe, positive learning environment and reinforce behavioral expectations.
• Build strong relationships with students and families.
• Maintain required documentation per guidelines and district policies.
• Complete Medicaid/SHARS documentation and timelines as applicable.
• Participate in required trainings and ongoing professional development.
• Communicate professionally with students, staff, and parents.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervising OT or leadership.
