Job summary

Sunbelt Staffing is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to support students in a school setting. You will work with supervising OTs, teachers, and families to implement individualized plans and promote independence within educational routines.

The role involves one-on-one and group activities, completing timely documentation, and contributing to IEP/504 meetings. Licensure and COTA certification are required; prior school-based experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Active COTA certification and state licensure required.
• Previous school-based or pediatric occupational therapy experience preferred.
• Comfortable working one-on-one and in group settings with a diverse student population.
• Strong communication skills to interact effectively with students, staff, and parents.
• Ability to take direction from supervising OTs and integrate therapy plans into educational routines.
• Commitment to documentation accuracy and timely record-keeping.

Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing individualized and group occupational therapy treatment plans designed by the supervising OT.
• Support students in building fine motor skills, sensory processing, organization, and self-care abilities within the school environment.
• Adapt classroom materials and school tasks to increase student participation in learning activities.
• Document student progress, maintain records, and collaborate in IEP/504 meetings as needed.
• Communicate regularly with educators and families to monitor progress and share strategies.
• Help ensure a safe, supportive, and inclusive atmosphere for all students.
