Job summary

Hendry County School District in Florida is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to support students with special needs. The COTA implements therapeutic programs prescribed by the occupational therapist and promotes independence in daily living skills within the classroom.

You will collaborate with teachers, parents and the Occupational Therapist, attend IEP meetings, and help collect data to track goals.

Qualifications

Florida licensure as a COTA is required.
Experience working with students with special needs is preferred.
Ability to communicate professionally and work with staff, parents, and students.

Responsibilities

Promote independence in daily living activities and use problem solving and adaptations.
Observe, problem solve and suggest positioning techniques to enhance participation and function.
Consult and assist classroom staff and share information at team meetings.
Discuss and exchange information about students with the occupational therapist.
Utilize task analysis to suggest techniques for feeding, daily living skills, pre-writing, and other school-related tasks.
Implement individualized/small group therapeutic programs prescribed by the occupational therapist.
Collaborate with colleagues and parents to plan and implement effective student programs.
Assist occupational therapists in tracking progress toward goals.
