Job Description

Position Overview

The School Based Behavioral Health Clinician collaborates with the school-based health center primary care provider to identify, treat, and manage students' mental health and psychological issues at Woonsocket Middle School. The role also includes providing behavioral health counseling and crisis intervention at Thundermist Health Center during school breaks.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree and appropriate licensure/certification in social work.
• Minimum of two years of clinical experience.
• Experience working with diverse populations; bilingual (Spanish/English) skills preferred.

Physical and Environmental Demands

Moderate physical activity required: sitting, standing, walking, lifting. Travel to off-site locations may be necessary.

Work Schedule

40 hours per week, including mornings, afternoons, and evenings as needed.

Communication Skills

• Strong oral and written communication skills required.
• Ability to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, service providers, and patients is essential.

Confidentiality

Maintain strict confidentiality of all client information, including medical records and outside agency documentation.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical & Direct Service

• Utilize DSM-V-TR and ICD-9 for psychiatric diagnosis and record findings and diagnostic formulations.
• Provide prevention, assessment, crisis intervention, short-term treatment, and referrals.
• Document progress and diagnostic information accurately in electronic health records.

Administrative Duties

• Maintain timely and accurate documentation per Health Center standards.
• Complete screening, progress notes, reports, and insurance documentation.
• Create clear, measurable treatment plans.
• Foster cooperative relationships with staff, patients, and community agencies.
• Participate in committees and perform other duties as assigned.
