Job summary

Salem Public Schools in Salem, MA seeks an Anticipated Behavior Specialist at Sarah Parker Remond Elementary School to support students with disabilities facing social, emotional, or behavior challenges as part of the school-based SPED team.

Under supervision, the Behavior Specialist provides short-term or ongoing intervention, collecting data and collaborating with BCBAs, SAC, and teachers, while participating in IEPs and district meetings to promote SEL goals and positive classroom management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• At least one year of related work experience.
• Experience working in an urban environment.
• Safety Care Training Certification (District will provide training)
• Current authorization to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate understanding of CASEL framework for social and emotional learning.
• Assist and support school-based leadership and special education teams to identify root causes of problematic student behaviors.
• Collaborate to implement behavior plans that support growth towards social emotional learning goals.
• Implement intervention strategies including small group intervention and SEL facilitation.
• Collaborate with BCBA(S) and teachers to adapt behavior plans for SEL goals.
• Collect meaningful data and present progress toward student goals.
• Use effective communication to present information clearly to staff.
• Model and provide staff with resources to promote positive classroom management.
• Support building administration to ensure school-wide behavior expectations are met across settings.
