Job summary

Fort Mill School District is seeking a dedicated Special Services Interpreter to provide sign language interpretation and transliteration for designated students within the school environment using ASL, Signed English (SEE), or other approved systems.

The role supports teachers and students, requires current national certification or an EIPA rating of 3.5+ preferred, and completion of appropriate interpreter training. Education equivalent to a high school diploma is required.

Qualifications

  • Current National Certification or an Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) rating of 3.5 or higher preferred.
  • Successful completion of the EIPA: Written Test.
  • Completion of appropriate interpreter academic training or equivalent experience.
  • Education equivalent to twelfth grade.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret and transliterate proficiently within school setting using ASL, SEE, or other specified system to provide education for designated student(s).
  • Provide competent signed interpreting services in a variety of contexts within the school.
  • Assist and reinforce instruction, adapt instructional materials, and perform related clerical duties as needed.
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with staff, students, and families.
  • Tutor and reinforce instruction for assigned student(s) and accompany students on field trips as required.
