Job summary

City of New York, Bronx International High School, seeks a School Aide for 2026-2027 to relieve teachers and support daily activities under supervision of the principal or a classroom teacher.

Responsibilities include yard, hall, lunchroom duties, handling textbooks and clerical tasks, and assisting with bus arrivals and dismissals. Position is 4+ hours daily, Monday through Friday, per the collective bargaining agreement.

Qualifications

• No High School Diploma or GED required.
• Excellent attendance and punctuality.
• Demonstrated ability to work with supervisors and other school-based staff.
• Demonstrated history of good human relations.
• Demonstrated ability to efficiently carry out assignments.
• Bilingual candidates may be considered for schools with language needs.
• Ability to walk or stand for long periods.
• Ability to lift objects up to 10 lbs.
• Experience working with students, preferably high school-age.

Responsibilities

• Relieves teachers of non-teaching activities under supervision of the principal or a teacher.
• Relieves teachers in yard, hall, lavatory, study hall and other monitorial duties.
• Handles, stores, and distributes textbooks, instructional supplies and special materials.
• Assists with clerical work of a routine nature.
• Maintains order in the lunchroom and facilitates lunch service.
• Checks reports, notes, library lists, etc.
• Assists with school clerical work of a routine nature.
• Oversees arrival and departure of students transported by bus.
• Receives students in lunchroom and directs washing, wrapping disposal, and lunch line.
• Supervises daily activities including entry, dismissal, lunch and drills.
