The Learning Experience in Gaithersburg, MD is seeking a School Age Teacher to support our before- and after-school childcare program. You will create engaging activities that keep children active, assist with homework, and foster a safe, welcoming learning environment.

Ideal candidates meet Maryland qualifications, demonstrate strong communication and classroom management, and are patient, dependable, energetic team players. This role offers a Monday–Friday schedule and room for career growth.

Qualifications

• Must meet Maryland School-Age Teacher qualification requirements.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in before- and after-school programs, childcare centers, or elementary education is a plus.
• Understanding of school-age child development and positive behavior management.
• Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills.
• Patient, dependable, energetic, and comfortable leading group activities.
• Must meet applicable Maryland Office of Child Care licensing requirements.

Responsabilités

• Plan arts and crafts, games, STEM activities, and hands-on learning experiences.
• Support homework time, reading, and independent learning.

• Establish consistent routines and use positive behavior guidance.
• Supervise indoor and outdoor activities while maintaining required staff-to-child ratios.

• Follow Maryland childcare licensing, health, and safety requirements.

School Age Teacher - Before & After School Childcare

Location: The Learning Experience - Gaithersburg, MD

Pay: $17.00-$20.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications

Schedule: Monday-Friday | Hours based on program needs

The Learning Experience - Gaithersburg is hiring a caring, energetic, and dependable School Age Teacher to support our school-age childcare program! We're looking for someone who can create a fun, structured environment where children can build friendships, develop independence, complete schoolwork, and enjoy meaningful activities outside the regular school day. Candidates must meet Maryland's School-Age Teacher qualification requirements.

• Must meet applicable Maryland Office of Child Care licensing requirements
