JOB SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the School Age Director, the Site Coordinator is responsible for programming and supervision of the School Age licensed program. The Site Coordinator will plan and implement a program of activities which will ensure each child’s personal safety while providing entertainment, physical challenges, and learning experiences. The Site Coordinator is responsible for all billing and timely collection of payments. The Site Coordinator will uphold the employee code of conduct and will ensure that all areas of the job responsibilities reflect the mission of the Old Colony Y, and the regulating agency. S/He will display and encourage the character traits of caring, responsibility, honesty and respect in the fulfillment of all job duties, as well as perform the following job functions.

Job Functions

PROGRAM RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Understand and ensure EEC regulations as well as Old Colony Y policies (Child and Youth Care policy, Child Guidance Policy, Health Care Policy) are maintained at all times.
  • Plan, develop, and implement the program curriculum in accordance with EEC regulations and Old Colony YMCA’S policies.
  • Gear the school age lesson plans to the needs of individual children with concern for their interests, disabilities, special talents, cultural diversity, and individual style and pace of learning.
  • Leadership of daily activities, including but not limited to; Y Chat, Asset Curriculum, BOKS, Fun/Food Curriculum.
  • Understands and maintains QRIS standards
  • Act in a public relations capacity when communicating with parents, school personnel and potential clients.
  • Supervision of the program’s children in all program locations, trips, etc.
  • Complete necessary documentation, including accident reports, incident reports, attendance records, and forward a copy of these report to the School Age Director.
  • Provide input in weekly staffing schedule.
  • Family Strengthening- Ensure the timely issuance of a monthly newsletter/calendar of events for families
  • Act as a positive role model.
  • Maintain proper behavior of children at all times with strict adherence to both the YMCA Child Guidance Policy, and the Child Care Policy.
  • Ensures Fun/Food Curriculum, menu planning and guidelines meet HEPA standards
  • Maintain attendance records and ensure all necessary reports and paperwork are submitted accordingly.
  • Meet with School Age Director as directed.
  • Provides leadership role in both weekly site staff meetings and monthly asset/school age curriculum meetings.
  • Collect, record and receipt payments and billing according to Y parent payment schedule.
  • Provide monthly Bureau of Nutrition reports where applicable.
  • Establish and maintain effective training programs, conferences, courses and other aspects of professional growth.
  • Establish and maintain working relationship with school or other site-specific personnel.

Supervision Of Personnel

  • Organize, facilitate and document regular meetings with staff to ensure work plans are being adhered to or modified as needed.
  • Attend mandatory training sessions and all site coordinator’s meetings.
  • Recruit, hire, supervise, train, and evaluate school age staff and volunteers.

Fiscal Responsibilities

  • Organize purchase of supplies through School Age Director.
  • Ensure maximum enrollment is achieved.
  • Assist with the Annual Campaign and other fund-raising events.
  • Adhere to all fiscal policies and procedures, such as purchase orders, employee expense forms, member balances and appropriate safekeeping of tuition payments.

Facility/Housekeeping Responsibilities

  • Ensure a clean, organized, and safe program space.
  • Communicate to appropriate staff facility issues which need to be addressed in a timely manner.

Volunteer/Committee/Inter-divisional Assignment Responsibilities

  • Actively participate on assigned committees and with the Y’s Annual Campaign.
  • Promote Y programs through public appearances and presentations.
  • Attend at least 20 hours of childcare training annually.

Requirements

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of 20 years of age.
  • B.S. or B.A. with 9 months experience with school age children, or High School diploma or equivalent plus 1 year working with school age.
  • CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required.
  • Evidence of physical examination within last 12 months.
  • Negative Mantoux TB test and immunity for measles, mumps, and rubella.
  • Ability to create and sustain a culture of excellence and work and thrive as part of a cohesive team.
  • Ability to lift/move heavy equipment and clean when necessary.
  • Will sometimes work early morning, late nights and weekends.
  • Strong oral communication skills required for occasional public speaking responsibilities.
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, lift up to 75lbs on occasion and 40lbs frequently (children) and move intermittently during work hours.
  • Ability to thoroughly understand Y-USA's three focus areas: Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility; proven ability to identify and meet the needs of the health seeker
