Job summary

Healthy Kids Programs is hiring a School-Age Childcare Site Supervisor for the Before and After School Program at William H. Barkley School in Amsterdam, NY for the 2026-2027 school year.

This part-time, non-exempt position follows the school calendar with morning and/or afternoon shifts. The role includes supervising activities, ensuring safety, and supporting families in a nurturing, structured environment.

Qualifications

• Candidates must meet ONE of the qualification options: high school diploma plus two years of direct experience with children under 13; or School-age Child Care Credential plus one year of experience with children under 13; or an Associate’s degree in Child Development, Elementary Education, Physical Education, Recreation, or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate hands-on activities following the Healthy Kids Curriculum (fitness, STEAM, academic, art, etc.) and homework completion.
• Provide a safe, healthy, and fun environment and be a positive role model for children.
• Observe state guidelines and program policies.
• Support program operations, including attendance records, registration, and staffing.

PAY RATE: $16.50 per hour

SCHEDULE: Follows the school calendar

Morning Program: 7:00 - 8:15 am

Afternoon Program: 2:40 - 6:00 pm

Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Candidates must meet ONE of the following qualification options:

• A high school diploma or its equivalent; and two years of direct experience working with children under 13 years of age.
• A School-age Child Care Credential or other Office recognized credential specific to the school-age developmental period, and one year of experience working with children less than 13 years of age.
• Associate’s degree in Child Development, Elementary Education, Physical Education, Recreation, or a related field.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Required health clearance, including TB screening, in accordance with state regulations.
• Must demonstrate a positive attitude, strong interpersonal skills, professionalism, and reliability.
• Physically able to bend, stretch, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds while actively engaging with children throughout the day.
