Alexandria Public Schools Community Education's Compass program seeks a Site Leader to create a safe, engaging afterschool and summer care for PreK-6 students at multiple locations. • Ensure materials for daily lesson plans are prepared and activities are engaging, age-appropriate, and beneficial.
• Communicate daily with parents about positive behaviors, observations, and concerns.
• Maintain confidentiality for all children, families, and staff.
• Accurately manage records including attendance logs, accident reports, and behavior forms.
• Implement a responsible discipline policy and follow individual behavior plans.
• Promote teamwork and a positive image of the program within the school and community.
• Attend all staff meetings and contribute to a positive team culture.

Position will be trained to step into multiple locations (6 Elementary Schools & Early Education Center) to substitute as PM Site Leader, 2:00-5:30pm Monday-Friday. Additional hours available M-TH mornings and full days on Fridays. Total hours ranging between 17.5-28 hours/week.

9 Month employee w/ additional opportunity for summer hours.

Compass is Alexandria Community Education’s school-age care program, providing before and afterschool, non-school day and summer care for students PreK-6th Grade. Site Leader is responsible for creating a safe, engaging, and well-organized program for school-age children. This role includes overseeing daily operations, providing exceptional customer service, supervising staff, and fostering a positive learning environment. The Site Leader is expected to build strong relationships with children, families, and staff and is committed to ensuring a safe, fun, and growth-oriented experience for all participants.

Key Responsibilities

• Organize and maintain a smooth-functioning program that adheres to established policies and the Code of Conduct.
• Ensure materials for daily lesson plans are prepared and activities are engaging, age-appropriate, and developmentally beneficial.
• Communicate daily with parents about their child’s positive behaviors, special observations, and any notable concerns.
• Maintain confidentiality for all children, families, and staff in the program.
• Accurately manage records including attendance logs, accident and incident reports, and behavior forms.
• Implement a responsible discipline policy and follow individual behavior plans.
• Promote teamwork and foster a positive image of the program both within the school and to the larger community.
• Attend all staff meetings and contribute to a positive team culture.

Qualifications

• Experience in childcare, early childhood education, or a related field.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain accurate records.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to engage positively with children, parents, and staff.
• Ability to adapt to schedule changes and work independently with a high level of responsibility.
• CPR certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).

Compensation

$19.92
Bonus pay of up to $4.00/hour in addition to hourly rate of pay.
