Job summary

Healthy Kids Programs is seeking a School-Age Childcare Assistant Site Director for the Frelinghuysen Elementary School site in Newton, NJ. The role supports before- and after-school programs following the school calendar, with morning and/or afternoon sessions.

The role emphasizes safety, engagement, and collaboration with families and staff, in a mission-driven team focused on delivering high-quality care for children aged 5–12.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent.
• 1–3 years of experience working with children in school/childcare/youth programs.
• Some lead or supervisory experience preferred.
• Knowledge of background checks and licensing a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee before- and after-school programs at Frelinghuysen Elementary School.
• Ensure safety, engagement, and positive learning experiences for children.
• Support staffing, scheduling, and daily operations to maintain program quality.
• Communicate with families and maintain clear records and compliance.

LOCATION: Frelinghuysen Elementary School in Newton, NJ

PAY: $17.00 - $18.00per hour

SCHEDULE: Follows the school calendar

Morning Program: 7:30 - 8:30 am

Afternoon Program: 3:15 - 6:15 pm

Opportunities may be available for morning, afternoon, or both programs.

Healthy Kids Programs provides childcare for school-age children (ages 5-12) enrolled in our program on the days and during the hours you work. • Program Quality: Kids are engaged, safe, and having fun every day; the program reflects Healthy Kids Programs' model and families consistently choose to re-enroll
• Staffing: The site is fully staffed every day; teachers are prepared, supported, and showing up for the kids
• Compliance: The site operates in ratio at all times; records are accurate and current; the program is ready for inspection on any given day
• Inventory: The site is well-stocked with the supplies and materials teachers need; nothing runs out mid-week; restocking happens before it becomes a problem

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalent required; some college or early childhood coursework preferred
• 1-3 years of experience working with children in a school, childcare, camp, or youth program setting
• Some experience in a lead or supervisory role preferred
• Familiarity with before- and after-school program environments a plus
• Knowledge of state childcare licensing or school-age care regulations helpful but not required
• Calm, flexible, and resourceful in a fast-paced environment.
• Able to pass required background and fingerprint clearances.
