Job summary

Kids for the Future is seeking a part-time, non-exempt afterschool staff for the Port Norris area. The role involves implementing curriculum, supervising children, and traveling to district sites as needed to support youth development.

Requirements include a high school diploma, 18+ years old, CPR/First Aid/AED and oxygen certifications within 30 days, and prior experience with diverse youth. Excellent communication with families is essential.

Qualifications

  • Ability to develop positive relationships with people from different backgrounds.
  • ADA compliance familiarity and inclusive mindset.

Description

1. Implements the curriculum and interacts with children within the established guidelines.

2. Required to work a minimum of 16 hours per week.

3. Required to travel to the site locations within the district that you are assigned to.

4. Nurtures children through purposeful programming dedicated to building achievement and belonging in youth and relationships among youth and within families.

5. Supervises the children, designated rooms, and all activities including ADA accommodations where appropriate. Follows all procedures and standards.

6. Knowledge of and ability to quickly implement emergency procedures to ensure safety of the children.

7. Cultivates positive relationships and maintains effective communication with parents, school staff, and Administration. Engages parents as volunteers and connects them to the YMCA.

8. Assists in maintaining the program site and equipment ensuring a clean, orderly, compliant, safe and positive environment for the students and parents

Requirements

4. Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred.

Summary

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Provides direction for the children in the before and afterschool program, and implements program curriculum.
