WEST MORRIS AREA YMCA is seeking part-time Babysitting Staff in Randolph, NJ. You will supervise infants to school-age children in a safe, fun environment while their parents use the YMCA facility.

The role emphasizes engaging children, communicating with families, adhering to policies, and completing incident reports. CPR/First Aid/AED certifications are required, with annual trainings; bilingual abilities are a plus.

Qualifications

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Two years of experience working with youth preferred.
  • Must complete required trainings annually.
  • Must hold current CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and maintain them throughout employment.

Responsibilities

  • Greets and engages each child and parent; communicates often and professionally with families.
  • Monitors the drop-off and pick-up of children following policies and procedures.
  • Performs age-appropriate activities for the assigned group/program.
  • Encourages children to make friends and reports activities to parents at pick-up.
  • Assists in cleaning and maintenance of the program space and equipment daily.
  • Maintains prompt hours and follows procedures for absences.
  • Completes incident and injury documentation; notifies parents in emergencies; discusses non-emergencies at pick-up.
  • Interacts with children individually while supervising the whole group.

Job Location: Randolph, NJ 07869 Position Type: Part Time Salary Range: $16.00 - $16.00 Hourly

POSITION SUMMARY:

Our Babysitting Staff does much more than childcare. It’s about fostering achievement, relationships and belonging. Provides supervision to infants, toddlers, preschoolers and/or school age children in a safe & fun environment while their parents are using the YMCA facility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Our team members are enthusiastic about their work because they are positively impacting children every day.

  • Greets and engages each child and parent; communicates often and professionally with families and interacts with children.
  • Monitors the drop off & pick up of children, follows policies and procedures related to such.
  • Performs age-appropriate activities children assigned to their group/program
  • Encourages children to make friends with other children (if age appropriate) and communicates about activities and connections made to parents at pick-up
  • Assists in the cleaning and maintenance of the program space and equipment daily
  • Offers children appropriate affection, verbal praise, and acceptance while providing clear and consistent expectations for behavior; sets firm limits with positive phrasing and actions when necessary
  • Maintains prompt hours and follows established procedures for absences
  • Completes written documentation for incidents and injuries; contacts children's parents immediately about emergency situations; communicates to parents about non-emergency incidents upon pick-up
  • Actively interacts with children on an individual basis while maintaining control of the entire group.
  • Positions his/herself for optimal interactions and supervision of children.

Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or general educational degree (GED) certificate required; must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Minimum of two years of experience working with youth preferred.
  • Must complete required trainings annually.
  • Must hold current certification in CPR, First Aid, AED; certifications must be maintained throughout employment.
  • Ability to supervise youth and present positive role modeling through all interactions with program participants.
  • Be reliable and dependable
