Job summary

Goodrich Area Schools’ Children’s Center is seeking a School Age Before Care Assistant to guide and supervise students in the after-school program at Reid Elementary School. The role supports safety, learning, and a positive daily routine before classes begin.

The position requires youth-facing experience, reliability, and child-centered approach. CPR/First Aid certification is preferred or willingness to obtain it; 16 hours of annual professional development is expected.

Qualifications

• Must be at least eighteen (16) years of age.
• Personable, reliable and child-oriented.
• CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain certification.
• Compliance to complete Central Registry Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Provide students with the appropriate leadership during the program.
• Maintain safety and ensure the welfare of all enrolled children, supervision of children during all activities.
• Engage and supervise the children in the school age after care program.
• Day-to-day operation: including and maintaining a harmonious and efficient learning environment.
• Curriculum: implementation, and documentation of developmentally appropriate activities that includes crafts, games, self-directed play, physical activities, reading, quiet time, and/or offer an environment where homework is encouraged.
• Develop and maintain professional relationships with classroom teachers, coworkers, families and other staff.
• Attend all staff meetings and other work related functions as required.
• Maintain an organized and clean classroom environment and ensure students conduct themselves appropriately.
• Follow and enforce all safety policies.
• Assist with students check in/out policies and procedures.
• Maintain confidentiality of information regarding all students.
• Willing to complete 16 clock hours of annual professional development training and certification continuation in CPR/First Aid, and Blood Borne Pathogens.

The Children’s Center is seeking a School Age Before Care Assistant who is passionate about guiding all children. This position may vary depending on program size and particular site needs. At times job responsibilities may overlap.

Work Environmen t

Work is performed at Reid Elementary School and may include other facilities of the district. There is limited exposure to physical risk.

REPORTS TO:

Children’s Center Director; Building Principal

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Monday thru Friday, Student days only

Approximately 6:00am – 8:30am

START DATE:

2026-2027 school year. Paid orientation training available beginning of the school year.

COMPENSATION:

$15.10 - $16.46 per hours, based on certification and degree plus years of experience in early childhood education.
