Job summary

The Preschool Assistant Director at Goodrich Area Schools supports the Preschool Director with leadership, administration, and daily operation of both tuition-based preschool and the GSRP. This role helps ensure high-quality, developmentally appropriate early childhood education for families served at Reid Elementary School.

The position requires coordinating with staff, families, and community partners, maintaining licensing compliance, and providing coaching to teachers.

Qualifications

• Associates or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE), Child Development, or closely related field.
• Knowledge of Michigan childcare licensing regulations, GSRP requirements, and best practices for tuition-based preschool programs.
• A valid CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain required certification.
• Ability to meet all required background checks and Central Registry clearance.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Preschool Director with the overall administration and daily operation of all preschool programs.
• Maintain compliance with Michigan childcare licensing regulations, GSRP requirements, and program policies and procedures.
• Support program monitoring, reporting, recordkeeping, enrollment documentation, and billing procedures.
• Help ensure appropriate classroom staffing and coverage and provide support when necessary.
• Conduct classroom observations and provide constructive feedback and coaching to staff.
• Assist families with enrollment, registration, orientation, tuition information, and program participation.
• Support recruitment, enrollment, and classroom placement for both tuition-based preschool and GSRP.
• Assist teachers and families in addressing children’s behavioral, developmental, social-emotional, and educational needs.
• Participate in staff meetings, family events, professional development opportunities, and community activities.
• Help maintain consistent communication and collaboration among staff, families, district personnel, and community partners.
• Assume leadership responsibilities in the absence of the Preschool Director, as assigned.

The Preschool Assistant Director supports the Preschool Director with the leadership, administration, and daily operation of both tuition-based preschool and the Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP). This position helps ensure the delivery of high-quality, developmentally appropriate early childhood education and family services while maintaining compliance with Michigan licensing regulations, GSRP requirements, and program policies, and other applicable standards.

Work Environment

Work is performed at Reid Elementary School and may include other facilities of the district. There is limited exposure to physical risk.

Terms of Employment

Monday - Friday

Approximately 9:30a - 6:00p

Start Date

2026-2027 school year.

Compensation

$21.30 per hour, based on certification and degree plus years of experience in early childhood education.
