Job summary

READS Collaborative is seeking a highly qualified School Adjustment Counselor for its Deaf and Hard of Hearing program. This long-term substitute role will provide direct ASL-based counseling, coordinate transitions, and collaborate with families and educators to support student success.

The position requires ASL fluency, a Master’s degree in a relevant field, and the ability to travel between district locations. Compensation is daily, with 150.00–195.00 per day, contingent on qualifications.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in School Counseling, Social Work, or a related clinical mental health field.
• Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) is required.
• Deep understanding of supports and accommodations for Deaf or hard of hearing students.
• Knowledge of SEL and district coordination.
• Strong written and verbal communication; able to work with diverse stakeholders.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between district locations.
• At least 2 years of relevant experience preferred.
• Citizenship, residency or work visa required.

Responsibilities

• Direct counseling for DHH students (individual and group) as part of IEP mandates.
• Attend IEP meetings and implement counselor-specific goals and accommodations.
• Collaborate with teachers to embed SEL and co-teach lessons.
• Coordinate transitions and plan for post-secondary or vocational paths.

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly qualified, compassionate, and collaborative Long-Term Substitute School Adjustment Counselor to support our Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) student population. In this role, you will provide direct counseling services, coordinate transitions, and collaborate with educators and families to ensure student success. Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) is strictly required.

• Direct Student Support: Provide individual and group counseling as a direct service to DHH students as mandated by their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
• IEP Management & Compliance: Attend IEP meetings, fully implement all counselor-specific IEP goals/accommodations, and assist in developing student intervention plans.
• Curriculum Integration: Collaborate with classroom teachers to embed Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum and co-teach SEL lessons.
• Transition Planning: Coordinate and guide student transition planning to prepare students for future educational or vocational settings.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Act as a key liaison between home-school representatives, families, human service agencies, and district personnel to ensure access to necessary supports.
• Consultation: Provide professional consultation to DHH program staff and school district personnel regarding the unique needs of children who are Deaf or hard of hearing.
• Itinerant Services: Drive and travel between multiple school buildings and program locations as required by student service schedules.
