Job summary

The University of Virginia School of Nursing seeks an Assistant Director of Financial Aid to oversee scholarships and aid for nursing students, ensuring compliance with regulations and donor restrictions.

The role maintains scholarship data, coordinates with internal and external partners, and develops reports for grants and funding sources while supporting donor stewardship and process improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree is preferred; Associate's degree with financial aid/financial analyst background is required.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, written, and verbal communications skills are imperative.
• Ability to interpret and apply policy in daily work is essential.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and projects, as well as the ability to work independently and with a diverse team of faculty and staff is required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, and the ability to quickly learn new software is essential.
• Two years of experience working in finance, financial aid or student services is required; experience gained while pursuing a degree will be considered.
• Preferred qualifications include specialized knowledge of federal, state, and university financial aid and award programs, regulations, and guidelines.
• Experience collaborating with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
• Previous database management software use including PeopleSoft, Slate, Oracle.

Responsibilities

• Award and manage all School of Nursing scholarships following, institutional, state, and federal requirements.
• Work with School of Nursing faculty to manage Graduate Assistant hiring and payment.
• Communicate financial aid information to prospective and current students through email, phone, and in-person and virtual presentations.
• Write and maintain reports to meet compliance for grants and funding sources for recruitment, enrollment, student scholarships, and financial aid.
• Advise students, faculty, and staff on financial aid and scholarship policies.
• Collaborate with Development and Alumni office and school finance personnel to appropriately steward all awards.
• Connect students with appropriate financial aid and finance related resources.
