Job summary

The Cushing/Whitney Medical Library at Yale University is seeking a Scholarly Communication Librarian to support Yale School of Medicine, Nursing and Public Health, and Yale New Haven Health System. The librarian provides consultations, instruction, and outreach on publishing, funder mandates, and impact metrics.

You will collaborate across the Medical Library and Yale Library system, reporting to the Program Director for Collection Strategy and Scholarly Communication, contributing to open

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited library school (or related substituted).
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in an academic or health science library.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently or collaboratively in a diverse team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide consultations, instruction, and outreach on scholarly communication topics to Yale medical campus affiliates.
  • Guide researchers in journal selection and open access publishing options including Yale-supported agreements.
  • Assist researchers in evaluating journals and dealing with predatory practices.
  • Promote persistent identifiers and scholarly identity management (ORCID, Google Scholar).
  • Advise on use of bibliometrics, citation metrics, and altmetrics for research impact.
