VCU Health is seeking a dedicated Schegistrar to manage scheduling and patient interactions in their Adult and Pediatric Therapy department. The role requires strong customer service skills and involves working closely with patients to ensure efficient registration and appointment management. This position offers a $1,000 sign-on bonus for qualified candidates who accept offers by June 30, 2025.

Competenze

• Minimum two years of previous experience with third-party medical insurance preferred.

Schegistrar - Adult and Pediatric Therapy Scheduling - Days

The Schegistrar schedules, registers, verifies pre-authorization and referrals are on file, confirms and maintains patient diagnostic appointments, surgeries, and/or medical consultations for VCUHS.

The role involves accurately obtaining required information for hospital and physician records, governmental requirements, billing, and third-party payer needs. Provides courteous and efficient services to patients and accurately documents/verifies patient pre-registration information in a professional and timely manner with the care team.

The work days are Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.

Requirements:

• Licensure, Certification, or Registration: N/A
• Experience REQUIRED: Strong customer service skills and patient/customer-centered focus in a positive manner in all situations
• Experience PREFERRED: Minimum of two (2) years previous experience with third-party medical insurance, HMO, and managed care; previous experience with CPT and ICD-10 coding; work experience using GE/IDX, Cerner
• Education/training REQUIRED: High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Education/training PREFERRED: Associate Degree in Business Management or closely related field from an accredited program; post-high school education in healthcare or medical billing coursework

Additional responsibilities:

Assist VCUHS Patient Revenue Cycle Department with obtaining maximum and timely reimbursement. Provide patients with appropriate information regarding VCUHS policies and procedures, and direct them to appropriate nursing units or ancillary service locations.

Other details:

May be required to work hours past normal shift hours to resolve backlog or contact patients for registration data. No supervisory responsibilities. Physical requirements include lifting less than 20 lbs, prolonged sitting, reaching, repetitive motion, and keyboard usage. Mental skills include strong recall, reasoning, problem solving, and concentration. The environment is fast-paced with frequent customer interactions and possible noise. The position serves all age-specific groups.
