SCHEDULING SPECIALIST III - NEWPORT BEACH NEUROSURGERY

Join to apply for the SCHEDULING SPECIALIST III - NEWPORT BEACH NEUROLOGY role at Hoag Health System.

Salary Range: $24.10 - $37.05 per hour. Actual compensation may vary based on geographic location, work experience, skill level, and education.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Assist in coordinating Patient Procedure/Surgical schedules, including managing complex appointments across multiple departments and specialties.
  2. Verify insurance, assist with pre-authorization, and act as liaison between providers and patients.
  3. Develop master schedules for procedures and coordinate resource needs.
  4. Interact directly with patients and work in a high call volume environment.
  5. Accurately schedule procedures, document diagnoses, and obtain correct insurance and demographic information.
  6. Pre-register patients and accommodate STAT/same-day requests.
  7. Provide updates to patients and physicians regarding authorizations and scheduling options.
  8. Maintain calendars for meetings and appointments for physicians.
  9. Register new patients and obtain necessary authorizations and medical records.
  10. Participate in quality improvement processes and maintain confidentiality.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of four years’ scheduling experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of body mechanics, safety measures, and basic medical terminology preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and healthcare database systems.
  • Understanding of medical insurance procedures.
  • Typing speed of at least 35 WPM preferred.
