Job Details

Salary Range: $24.10 - $37.05/hour. Actual compensation may vary based on geographic location, work experience, skill level, and education.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The Medical Assistant (MA) is responsible for maintaining a professional environment, fostering collaboration with patients and physicians. The MA will assist with non-clinical tasks such as scheduling follow-up visits, imaging, lab work, preparing chart elements, managing pre-authorizations, and acting as a liaison between providers and patients. The MA ensures proper records are received, tests are completed before appointments or surgeries, and communicates updates regarding timing and status to staff and patients, ensuring smooth patient flow and effective communication within Hoag and with referring physicians.

Required Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent; graduate of Medical Assistant program or one year of medical back-office experience, preferably in an acute healthcare setting.
• Basic keyboarding skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field.
• At least one year of medical back-office experience in an acute healthcare setting.
• Experience with EPIC or other EMR systems.
• Bilingual or multilingual skills are a plus.

Certifications

• Required: Current BLS Certification.
• Preferred: Medical Assistant Certification, CPR certification (willing to obtain within 30 days), and Limited Phlebotomy Certification.
