Scheduling Director
The Scheduling Director will provide enterprise leadership in development and implementation of the company’s scheduling philosophy, standards, procedures and best practices. This role ensures schedule integrity, predictability, and consistency across all business units, supporting pursuits, preconstruction, operations, and executive leadership. The Scheduling Director drives company‑wide scheduling standards, leads a team of schedulers, and serves as the organization’s subject‑matter expert on planning, sequencing, and schedule risk management.
Responsibilities
- Build, lead and mentor a high performing scheduling team and deployment plans for scheduling resources
- Establish enterprise‑wide scheduling governance and quality control processes to improve schedule predictability and project performance
- Lead strategic and continuous improvement initiatives related to scheduling
- Evaluate and implement scheduling technologies and workflow improvements
- Creating and maintaining scheduling templates and reporting standards related to scheduling metrics and KPIs
- Develop portfolio level schedule reporting and forecasting capabilities
- Provide on‑the‑job scheduling training to team members and create a self‑guided training resource library
- Integrate cost and labor tracking into project schedules
- Ensure proper schedule documentation is maintained throughout project execution to closeout
- Guide Pursuit and Baseline Schedule Development and conduct Collaborative Scheduling/Planning sessions
- Review dashboard level operations schedules for early risk detection and identify trends and potential schedule threats
- Provide expertise on schedule optimization, resource and cost loading, claims analysis and recovery planning
- Assist in forecasting future performance based on current data and production rates
- Perform schedule peer reviews and audits
- Champion safety as a top priority and model safe behaviors on project sites
- Maintain strong attendance and meet all project deadlines
- Build strong, positive relationships internally and externally
- Support the company’s matrix organization format and overall goals
- Recruit, onboard, evaluate performance and plan career development for scheduling personnel
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Skills and Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree and 15+ years of scheduling or related construction experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
- Strong knowledge of construction logistics, sequencing, techniques, materials, equipment, and crew sizing
- Expert‑level proficiency in Primavera P6, including cost/resource loading
- Strong communication, organizational, leadership, and problem‑solving skills
- Capable of evaluating, recommending and leading implementation of scheduling technologies
- Ability to read and analyze complex project documents and data trends
- Earned Value Management (EVM) or productivity analysis experience
Preferred
- Certifications such as Planning & Scheduling Professional, PMI‑SP, PMP, CCM, etc.
- Experience integrating 4D BIM into planning workflows
- Background working for a $1 B+ commercial general contractor
