Job summary

Tenet Physician Resources in El Paso, TX is seeking a skilled Surgery Scheduling Professional to manage all aspects of the pre-operative and scheduling processes. You will verify insurance, obtain authorizations, coordinate preoperative testing and align with surgeons and hospital protocols.

The ideal candidate has at least 5 years of physician office experience with surgery scheduling, CMA preferred and CPR required. Some local travel to support other offices may be needed.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma/GED required with completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program
  • Certification: CMA preferred, CPR required
  • Experience: Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience working in a physician office with previous surgery scheduling experience strongly preferred.
  • Other Requirements: Occasional local travel to support other offices.

Responsibilities

  • Adheres to and supports the mission, purpose, philosophy, objectives, policies, and procedures of Tenet Physician Resources, the Tenet HIPAA Compliance Plan, and the Tenet Corporate Compliance Program's Code of Conduct.
  • Triage surgical candidates as required by the physicians.
  • Educate patients about planned surgery.
  • Verify insurance information in the electronic system.
  • Obtain insurance authorizations as required by individual plans prior to surgery.
  • Obtain medical clearances and coordinate preoperative testing in concert with surgeons and per hospital protocols.
  • Work with appropriate hospital personnel to obtain necessary information for surgery scheduling.
  • Confirm and reschedule return appointments, as necessary.
  • Notify manager with patient account and insurance issues.
  • Provide assistance to administrative or clinical staff as needed; other duties as assigned.

Job Summary
