Job summary

Tenet Physician Resources is seeking a Scheduling Coordinator for Abrazo Brain and Spine West Campus in Goodyear, AZ. You will manage the surgery process, verify insurance, obtain pre-operative certifications and authorizations, and schedule pre-op labs and tests.

The role requires one year in medical insurance or healthcare, preferably with surgery scheduling; strong attention to detail, communication with patients and hospital staff, and adherence to HIPAA.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of one year working in medical insurance or healthcare related field; previous surgery scheduling experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to and supports Tenet Physician Resources policies and HIPAA compliance.
• Triage surgical candidates and gather necessary information for scheduling.
• Coordinate with hospital staff to obtain authorizations and calendar pre-operative testing.
• Educate patients about planned surgery and post-surgery instructions.
• Verify insurance and ensure necessary authorizations prior to surgery.
• Assist with coordination of post-operative care and scheduling follow-ups.

Job Summary

Abrazo Brain and Spine West Campus

The Scheduling Coordinator is responsible for all aspects of surgery process including all verifying insurance; pre-operative certifications and authorizations; complete necessary hospital forms; scheduling patient for any pre-operative labs, testing and coordination of post-surgery care

Responsibilities

• Adheres to and supports the mission, purpose, philosophy, objectives, policies, and procedures of Tenet Physician Resources.
• Adheres to the Tenet HIPAA Compliance Plan and the Privacy Standards Confidentiality Agreement.
• Demonstrates support for the Tenet Corporate Compliance Program by being knowledgeable of compliance responsibilities as expressed in the Code of Conduct; adhering to federal and state laws, rules, regulations, and corporate policies and procedures that affect job functions/responsibilities; and reporting compliance issues.
• Triage surgical candidates as required by the physicians.
• Work with appropriate hospital personnel to obtain information as required for surgery scheduling.
• Educate patients about planned surgery.
• Verify insurance information in the electronic system and obtain necessary authorizations prior to surgery.
• Work in concert with surgeons to obtain medical clearances and preoperative testing as required by hospital protocols.
• Confirm and reschedule return appointments as necessary; notify manager with patient account and insurance issues.
• Provide assistance to administrative or clinical staff as needed, and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: High school diploma/GED

Experience: Minimum of one year working in medical insurance or healthcare related field; Previous surgery scheduling experience strongly preferred.
