Job summary

The Palm Beach Health Network Physician Group (PBHN), also known as Tenet Florida Physician Services (TFPS), is a large multi-specialty physician group with hospitals and ambulatory centers across Palm Beach County.

The Surgical Coordinator/Scheduler plays a critical role in coordinating pre- and post-operative scheduling, authorizations, and referrals for multiple physicians while delivering patient-centered service.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Requires 1-3 years of experience in Medical setting, preferably in Physician Practice.
• Requires at least 2 years of surgical scheduling experience.
• Healthcare background is strongly desirable.
• EMR/EHR experience preferred, NextGen or Athena experience preferred.
• Proficiency in a Windows environment with Word, Outlook, and Internet is required.
• Willingness to be flexible and adaptable in a complex environment.

Responsibilities

• Primarily responsible for providing complete patient pre-operative and post-operative surgical scheduling functions for the assigned physician.
• Coordinates scheduling of the surgical sites and appointments for all physicians while facilitating surgical dates with patients.
• Obtains necessary authorizations and referrals from primary care physicians, specialists, and insurance companies.
• Assure surgeon preferences with the available resources. Obtains necessary authorizations and referrals from primary care physicians, specialists, and insurance companies.
• Displays concern and provides assistance or explains procedures as appropriate to callers or in face-to-face situations.
