RWJBarnabas Health in New Jersey is seeking a Scheduler/Receptionist for the Radiology Support Services. The role involves greeting patients, scheduling exams (Ultrasound, CT, Nuclear Medicine, Mammography), and managing patient arrivals and related paperwork.

The position requires a High School Diploma or GED, CPR/BLS certification within 3 months, and proficiency in Microsoft Office. PACS/EPIC experience is preferred; occasional holiday/weekend coverage may be required.

Qualifications

• CPR BLS certification from the American Heart Association within 3 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and manage patient appointments and check-ins.
• Handle in-person and phone communications for scheduling and inquiries.
• Monitor radiology wait times and keep patients informed during visits.
• Assist with file room duties, CD uploads, and escalation of radiology read requests.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
• Flexibility for coverage during holidays and weekends; rotate as needed.
• Use IDX for scheduling, billing details, and ICD-9/10 coding as applicable.
• Retrieve reports and fax to requesting physicians and departments.

Job Overview

The Scheduler/Receptionist is responsible for performing clerical and administrative tasks within the radiology department.

Qualifications

Required:

• High School Diploma/GED
• CPR BLS certification from the American Heart Association required within 3 months of employment
• Computer skills, Microsoft office
• Strong customer service skills and excellent interpersonal communication
• Experience with PACS and EPIC preferred

Schedule

• Full-Time, Days
• Monday - Friday, 8am-4:30pm
• Holiday rotation as needed

Essential Functions

• Duties include greeting patients, managing patient appointments, patient arrival for procedures, assists patients with screening forms and associated paperwork scheduling appointments and handling both in person and over the phone communication
• Monitoring of Radiology wait times to ensures patients and their families are kept informed during their visit
• This position offers diversity with learning and covering the file room, CD uploads, escalation of radiology read requests, and patient billing,
• Adherence to Patient Confidentiality and HIPPA
• Flexibility for coverage with operational hours, rotating weekends as needed, rotating coverage for holidays
• Demonstrates competence in appropriate use of IDX for ICD- use and billing details,
• Demonstrates expertise in IDX scheduling, report and reception functions
• Interact professionally through personal, telephone, or written communication, providing appropriate assistance
• Reports patient complaints, problems and any outward signs, symptoms or unusual occurrences immediately to appropriate staff
• Retrieve all reports and exhibit ability to fax to requesting physicians, nursing units, physician offices and ancillary departments with the institution
• Schedule all procedures correctly for Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, CT, Diagnostic and Mammography
• Transports patients to floor units or emergency departments if required
