Job summary

WHB Engineers in San Diego, CA is seeking a Scheduler/Planning & Controls Engineer with 5 to 10 years of project planning experience to support large-scale civil projects. The role emphasizes advanced scheduling with Primavera P6 to develop, cost/resource load CPM schedules and provide value through analysis.

The successful candidate will be organized, communicative, independent, and capable of contributing to complex infrastructure projects in Southern California.

Qualifications

• Engineering or Construction Management degree or equivalent.
• Proficiency with Primavera P6 Professional and MS Office.
• Minimum of five years of practical work experience in scheduling for civil infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

• Review plans and establish baseline schedules.
• Build and maintain cost and resource loaded schedules with earned value.
• Review monthly reports and provide executive summaries.
• Perform network logic analysis to validate sequencing and critical path.
• Analyze changes and claims related to schedules.
• Conduct Time Impact Analyses (TIA) to assess risks and recovery options.
• Coordinate schedule meetings with teams, contractors, and clients.
• Provide data-driven insights to support decision-making.
• Assist in keeping projects on schedule and within budget.

Our staff works on a broad array of challenging and interesting public and private projects specializing in the design, rehabilitation, and construction of water and wastewater facilities, waterfront structures, and other civil infrastructure

The Opportunity

WHB's San Diego, CA office is actively seeking Scheduler/Planning & Controls Engineer with 5 to 10 years of experience in project management/planning & controls to support large scale projects in Southern California. This role requires advanced scheduling expertise with Primavera P6 to develop, maintain and provide value engineering of cost and resource loaded Critical Path Method (CPM) schedules.

The ideal candidate for this opportunity is organized, has solid communication skills, can work independently with minimum supervision, is team oriented, personable, and possesses a strong desire to make a positive contribution to the business.

Responsibilities:

• Review plans and specifications to establish project baseline schedules.
• Build and maintain cost and resource loaded schedules, update actuals to support earned value and generate financial/operational reports.
• Review monthly reporting packages, including narratives, schedule files and reports, summarize and provide executive summary
• Perform network logic analysis to validate sequencing, float accuracy and critical path alignment
• Perform analysis of changes orders and claims
• Conduct Time Impact Analyses (TIA) to validate risks, delays and recovery options
• Conduct schedule coordination meetings with internal teams, contractors and clients
• Provide clear, data driven insights that support executive decision-making
• Assisting in the management of projects to ensure they are on schedule, within budget and meet the requirements of our clients
• Perform construction site inspections and attend progress meetings

Required Qualifications:

• Engineering or Construction Management degree or an Engineering Technology diploma (EPPM, PMI-SP, PSP, PMP or equivalent) is required
• Proficiency with Primavera P6 Professional and Microsoft Office suite
• Minimum of five years of practical work experience.
• Write, review and critique baseline and update schedules related to the civil infrastructure projects
• Provide technical direction or supervision to engineering professionals, engineering, or computer-aided design (CAD) technicians, or other professional and technical personnel
• Perform studies, calculations, and reports in accordance with project requirements and engineering standards

Preferred Qualifications:

• Candidate shall have a California Professional (PE), Certified Construction Manager (CCM) be willing to work to obtain this license.
• Excellent customer service skills including an ability to interact professionally and knowledgeably with clients

We offer a generous salary and benefits package that includes company paid medical and dental insurance, vacation, and a 401(k) plan. The salary range for this position is $115,000 to $160,000, depending upon the experience and expertise of the incoming candidate.
