Requires a high school diploma or GED, EMR knowledge, and strong medical terminology. An Associate’s degree and CST certification are preferred, with 1+ year hospital or physician practice experience valued.

Qualifications

• Understanding and use of Electronic Health Record (EMR)
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology and attention to detail.
• Associate’s degree preferred.
• Certified Scheduling Technician (CST) credential preferred.
• 1+ years’ experience in a hospital or physician practice setting.

Responsibilities

• The Scheduler arranges appointments for surgical and non-surgical procedures along with pre-surgical testing for various specialties.
• Schedules surgeries and procedures for all specialties.
• Coordinates all required testing and procedures.
• Ensures all required pre-testing, patient information, and consents have been obtained and are on-site before the patient’s admission to the hospital.
• Demonstrates good judgment in scheduling procedures to both meet patient needs and increase physician productivity.
• Acts as a liaison with patients, referrals, general practitioners, health care professionals, and patients’ family members in a compassionate and kind manner.

• Hackensack Meridian Pascack Valley Medical Center is a 128-bed, full-service, acute-care community hospital with a new emergency department, a state-of-the-art maternity center, a women's imaging center, and an ICU.
