Job Description: The Scheduler is based on the jobsite and assists the Site Manager and Project Manager/Director with coordination of the planning, scheduling, and earned value management of a project with the goal of bringing the project in on time and under budget.
This position reports directly to the Site Manager (on the assigned project) and indirectly to the Director, Project Controls. Major Responsibilities include the following:
Directly responsible for Scheduling including:
- Development of the schedule and management of deterministic baselines.
- Apply planning theory and methods.
- Manage schedule change and document accordingly.
- Execute What If schedules to determine best course of action where required.
- Management of the schedule database associated with the project.
- Perform quality checks on the schedule.
- Review of Takt Time and productivity requirements with Site Manager and Project Manager of the proposed schedule.
- Responsible for Constraint Management within the schedule .
- Development of package release schedule with direct oversight from the Site Manager.
- Leading weekly reviews of Submittal, Package Release and Procurement Schedules Constraints.
- Daily, Weekly and Monthly schedule reviews.
- Resource leveling and production leveling of the schedule to manage the work front and resource available for the project effectively.
- Assisting Project Engineering with development of resource and execution curves.
- Directly responsible for all variance reporting and analysis to the Project Manager, Site Manager and Director, Project Controls.
- Coordination and communication with client schedulers and incorporation of client deliverables, constraints, milestones, etc.
- Effective float management.
- Utilize historical information and input to test schedule’s robustness.
Earned Value Management includes:
- Auditing claimed execution quantities weekly to ensure accuracy of claiming for schedule progress updates.
- Updating and analyzing weekly progress from all disciplines against planned to evaluate effectiveness.
- Oversight of the Earned Value Process in accordance with our standard operating procedures.
Subcontractor Coordination and Meetings
- Reviewing and incorporation of Subcontractor schedules and 3WLAs into the overall schedule.
- Coaching subcontractors, when required, on proper scheduling techniques and ensuring that the schedules we are provided by our vendors are accurate and follow good practices.
Other Responsibilities:
- Development of and review of non-standard KPIs specific to the project that may be required when required.
- Develop and manage, with the input of the Site Manager, Client, Project Manager and Director, Project Controls all ROCs.
- Work with the Site Managers and Project Managers to identify any adverse trends and develop recovery plans where necessary including initiate estimates as required to identify cost as well as duration impacts.
- Review of Expediting process and assist in delivery scheduling.
- Oversee, Assist, or Create visual tools for visualizing the schedule’s planned progression and actual progress.
- Checking daily photos to ensure that the site has appropriately captured progress and constraint photos for documentation purposes.
Beneficial Additional Qualities:
- MS Project Scheduling Experience -Some experience in estimating
- TWIC
- Experience in Planning and Packaging specifically with AWP
Skills and Qualifications Minimum Requirements:
- 5 years of Scheduling Experience.
- Strong mathematical skills.
- Good understanding of Microsoft Office Products (including Excel).
- Strong desire to learn and achieve.
- Strong understanding of planning, budgeting, and scheduling.
- Advanced knowledge of Scheduling Techniques and application specifically in P6.
- Strong understanding of varying types of constraints, scheduling techniques, and KPIs.
- Strong Analytical skills.
- Ability to create schedules autonomously for varying types of project scopes as well as create schedules that incorporate the input of a dozen individuals.
- Ability to review the contract documents for a schedule and identify potential pitfalls as well as effectively develop a reasonable WBS, Activities, Durations, Logic, Resources, etc. required for the project without input from others.
