Job summary

Heartland Scenic Studio Inc. seeks an experienced Carpenter – Scenic Fabrication & Installation to build, assemble, and install custom exhibit components for museums and themed spaces. The role supports in-shop fabrication and on-site installations, ensuring safety, precision, and craftsmanship.

You will work with hardwoods, plywood, Sintra, metal, and other materials, reading drawings, and following production workflows to meet project timelines and quality standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum 3 years of carpentry or fabrication experience is preferred.
• Ability to read and translate shop drawings accurately.
• Knowledge of wood shop tools and fabrication equipment.
• Commitment to safety practices and PPE usage.
• OSHA 10 certification is a plus in preferred qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate scenic elements in the shop and assist with on-site installation.
• Locate CNC-cut parts and produce non-CNC components using appropriate tools.
• Assemble, finish, and repair exhibit components per plans and drawings.
• Install premade electrical components, lighting, and mechanical interactive elements as needed.
• Troubleshoot and refine assemblies to ensure fit and alignment with specs.
• Assist with shop discipline, workflow, and production efficiency.
• Support on-site installation, packaging, and transport of fabricated products.
• Maintain safe, clean, and organized work areas.
