Job summary

Kanawha Scales & Systems, LLC. is seeking a skilled Scale Service Technician (CDL Required) for our Harrison, OH team. You will install, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot a variety of scales used in industrial and commercial settings to guarantee precise measurements and customer satisfaction.

The role requires CDL, physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and strong customer-service skills. Expect 24/7/365 coverage with potential evening/weekend work and outdoor environments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical/vocational training preferred.
• 2-3 years of relevant industry experience preferred.
• Experience in scale installation, calibration, and repair.
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 and NIST Handbook 44.
• Proficiency with calibration and measurement equipment.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs; varied working conditions.
• Valid driver’s license; Class B (or A) CDL required.
• AC/DC, MIG welding experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Scale installation: install and set up industrial, laboratory, and commercial scales per manufacturer specs.
• Calibration: perform calibration procedures and adjust to meet precision requirements.
• Maintenance and repair: conduct routine maintenance, diagnose issues, and repair scales to minimize downtime.
• Inspection: inspect scales for wear, damage, and functionality; address issues with load cells and displays.
• Documentation: maintain service and calibration records; certificates and service reports.
• Customer interaction: communicate with clients regarding service requirements and questions.
• Safety compliance: follow safety protocols when working with heavy equipment and electrical components.
• Quality assurance: ensure serviced scales meet standards.
• Inventory management: track tools, parts, and supplies and replenish as needed.
• Training: stay updated on industry practices and scale technology.

Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Scale Installation: Properly install and set up industrial, laboratory, and commercial scales according to manufacturer specifications.
• Calibration: Perform calibration procedures and adjust settings to meet precision requirements.
• Maintenance and Repair: Conduct routine maintenance, diagnose issues, and repair scales promptly to minimize downtime.
• Inspection: Inspect scales for wear, damage, and functionality; address issues with load cells, displays, and other components.
• Documentation: Maintain detailed service and calibration records, including certificates and service reports.
• Customer Interaction: Communicate professionally with clients regarding service requirements, estimates, and technical questions.
• Safety Compliance: Follow safety protocols when working with heavy equipment and electrical components.
• Quality Assurance: Ensure all serviced scales meet quality and regulatory standards.
• Inventory Management: Track tools, parts, and equipment; replenish supplies as needed.
• Training: Stay updated on industry best practices and scale technology advancements.

Skills and Knowledge
