Job summary

Kanawha Scales & Systems is seeking a skilled Scale Service Technician with CDL for the Memphis, TN team. You will install, calibrate, maintain, and repair a variety of industrial and commercial scales, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards.

The role requires 2–3 years of relevant experience, a valid CDL is a plus, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Outdoor work and travel to facilities across industries are common.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical/vocational training preferred.
  • 2–3 years of relevant industry experience preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license; Class B (or A) CDL a plus.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in varied conditions.
  • AC/DC, MIG welding experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Install and set up industrial, laboratory, and commercial scales according to manufacturer specifications.
  • Perform calibration procedures and adjust settings to meet precision requirements.
  • Maintain and repair scales to minimize downtime.
  • Inspect scales for wear, damage, and functionality; address issues with load cells, displays, and other components.
  • Maintain detailed service and calibration records, including certificates and service reports.
  • Communicate professionally with clients regarding service requirements, estimates, and technical questions.
  • Follow safety protocols when working with heavy equipment and electrical components.
  • Ensure all serviced scales meet quality and regulatory standards.
  • Track tools, parts, and equipment; replenish supplies as needed.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and scale technology advancements.

We are seeking a skilled Scale Service Technician w/ CDL for our Memphis, TN Team to ensure the accurate and reliable operation of a variety of scales used in industrial and commercial settings. This role involves installation, maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting to guarantee precise measurements, compliance with industry standards, and customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Documentation: Maintain detailed service and calibration records, including certificates and service reports.
  • Customer Interaction: Communicate professionally with clients regarding service requirements, estimates, and technical questions.
  • Safety Compliance: Follow safety protocols when working with heavy equipment and electrical components.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure all serviced scales meet quality and regulatory standards.
  • Inventory Management: Track tools, parts, and equipment; replenish supplies as needed.
  • Training: Stay updated on industry best practices and scale technology advancements.
Skills and Knowledge
  • Experience in scale installation, calibration, and repair.
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities.
  • Knowledge of industry standards (e.g., ISO 9001, NIST Handbook 44).
  • Proficiency with calibration and measurement equipment.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in varied conditions.
  • Valid driver’s license; Class B (or A) CDL a plus.
  • AC/DC, MIG Welding experience is a plus.
Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical/vocational training preferred.
