Farmer Focus is seeking a Scale Operator for our on-site production facility in Virginia. The role focuses on accurately weighing products to customer specifications, maintaining quality, and ensuring precise documentation while coordinating with department leads and management.

The position requires attention to detail, reliability with paperwork, and clear communication. Overtime and some weekend work are expected as part of assigned shifts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma preferred.
• General mathematical ability required to perform job duties accurately.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English to complete paperwork.
• Ability to use basic office and production equipment (computer, email, copier, fax, 10-key).
• Ability to communicate clearly with supervisors and management.
• Must work assigned days/shifts, including overtime/weekends as required.

Responsibilities

• Accurately weigh products according to customer specifications and production requirements.
• Enter data using a keyboard and operate scale systems, computer, email, and 10-key calculator.
• Complete required paperwork accurately and timely.
• Read and understand English to identify items on paperwork.
• Communicate clearly with supervisors, associates, and management verbally and in writing.
• Analyze and calculate data using basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
• Perform assigned tasks accurately and efficiently using time/resources effectively.

Job Title: Scale Operator

Compensation: $18.25/hr.

Additional Compensation: $1.50/shift differential.

Department: Trim Line B

Reports To: Production Supervisor

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Location: On-site production facility

Work Arrangement: On-site

Shift / Schedule: Assigned shift; overtime and some weekends required

Travel Requirements: No regular travel required

Role Overview / Purpose and Scope

The Scale Operator is responsible for accurately weighing products to customer specifications while maintaining superior quality standards in the assigned production area. This role requires attention to detail, accurate documentation, and clear communication with department leads, supervisors, and upper management to support efficient operations and product quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Accurately weigh products according to customer specifications and assigned production requirements.
• Enter data using a keyboard and operate production and office equipment, including scale systems, computer, email, copier, fax machine, and 10-key calculator.
• Complete required paperwork accurately, neatly, and in a timely manner.
• Read and understand English in order to identify items and information on required paperwork.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with supervisors, associates, department leads, and upper management verbally and in writing.
• Analyze and calculate data using basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
• Complete assigned tasks accurately and efficiently while using time and resources effectively.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Tra vel

Work is performed on-site in a production environment. The role requires availability to work assigned days and shifts, including overtime and some weekends as required. Team members may be required to stand, walk, operate production and office equipment, follow safety and quality procedures, complete documentation accurately, and communicate effectively in a fast-paced operational setting. Appropriate personal protective equipment must be worn as required by the work area.
