  • The scale house operator is responsible for helping to maintain the day-to-day operation and administrative duties associated with operation of the scale. This position requires a detail-oriented person able to maintain focus in a fast-paced processing plant. This position reports to the Business Operations Manager.
  • Work hours are Monday – Friday 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
  • May need to work from 6:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. on occasion.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Operate scale house computers to obtain weight information for incoming recycle haulers and outbound shipments.
  • Compare scale tickets and bills of lading to verify accuracy of shipment contents and weights
  • Operates traffic control devices to allow vehicles to proceed to tipping area and exit from facility
  • Issues receipts to vehicle driver and collects tickets
  • Maintain accurate overall record keeping for reporting and analysis
  • Use of radio communications with worksite operators
  • Communicating with haulers and truck drivers
  • Communicating with Supervisors and Peers, providing information to supervisors and co-workers by telephone, written form, and email and in person.
  • Performing day to day administrative tasks such as maintaining information files and processing paperwork.
  • Maintain, monitor, and clean work areas, counters, windows and area around scale office
  • Follows company safety policies and procedures to prevent injuries and accidents

Required Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to work well in a noisy environment
  • Organized and punctual

  • Interact with truck drivers, haulers, vendors, customers in a friendly and professional manner

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Regularly use hands and fingers to handle or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms
