Job summary

Ferrous Processing and Trading (FPT) in Cleveland, OH is seeking a Scale Clerk. You will weigh inbound and outbound vehicles, inspect loads for correct weight, material description and grade, and direct trucks to unloading areas.

You will operate and maintain scale equipment, assist in purchases, prepare paperwork, and coordinate with transportation, customers and yard staff while ensuring safety and accurate record-keeping in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience in scrap industry preferred.
• Computer experience with Microsoft Office preferred.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Basic math and data entry skills.
• Ability to establish priorities and manage multiple tasks at once.
• Ability to maintain accurate records.
• Ability to follow oral and written communication.
• Must be able to climb ladders or steps to reach objects.

Responsibilities

• Weigh inbound and outbound vehicles and inspect loads.
• Direct trucks to unloading areas and assist with purchases.
• Operate and maintain scale equipment including forklifts, skid steers.
• Prepare proper paperwork for shipments and maintain records.
• Communicate effectively with transportation, customers, management, and yard staff.
• Assist with processing and coordinate pickups/deliveries with carriers.
