Job summary

JPMorgan Chase is seeking a Scala Engineer to join Corporate Technology and help design, develop, and troubleshoot software components across the SDLC. You’ll work in an agile environment on secure, scalable tech products and influence AI-assisted practices within the team.

The role emphasizes collaboration with global teams, strong data skills, and hands-on coding in Scala, Java, or Python. A security-conscious mindset and Scrum experience are valued.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience.
• Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
• Proficient in coding in one or more languages: Scala, Java, Python.
• Strong Big-Data and database skills.
• Experience with AWS cloud computing using ECS, EKS, EMR, Lambda, etc.
• Well-versed with data structures and algorithms and efficient coding practices.
• Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment.
• Ability to collaborate with global teams across time zones.
• Familiar with agile development methodologies (e.g., Scrum) and CI/CD, Applicant Resiliency, and Security.
• Experience leading the use of AI-assisted software development tools with validation standards.

Responsibilities

• Executes standard software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting.
• Writes secure and high-quality code using the syntax of at least one programming language with limited guidance.
• Designs, develops, codes, and troubleshoots with consideration of upstream and downstream systems.
• Applies knowledge of SDLC tools to improve value realized by automation.
• Applies technical troubleshooting to break down solutions and solve problems of basic complexity.
• Gathers and analyzes large data sets to identify problems and contribute to decision-making.
• Learns and applies processes and skills for secure, stable code and systems.
• Drives team adoption of AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, delivery speed, and outcomes.
