Job summary

HF Sinclair Midstream in Tulsa, OK is hiring a SCADA Programming Technician to execute mid-to-high level hardware/software field assignments within the Pipeline SCADA department. The role may occasionally direct or lead others and requires travel up to 50% to support field sites.

Responsibilities include developing control systems, programming PLCs and HMIs, and maintaining SCADA software such as Wonderware Intouch and ClearSCADA across field sites.

Qualifications

• Three years of on-the-job experience required.
• Associates degree or equivalent in CS/IT/Engineering/Telecommunications or related field required.
• Bachelor's degree preferred for advancement and deeper expertise.

Job description

Basic Function

HF Sinclair Midstream located in Tulsa, OK is seeking a SCADA Programming Technician. This position conducts mid to high level hardware/software field assignments for the Pipeline SCADA department under minimal supervision. May direct or lead the work of others from time‑to‑time.

Job Duties

• Develops and designs control systems for pipeline/terminal control
• Programs PLCs for the design and implementation of windows based software
• Maintains and programs PLCs and field HMIs
• Designs and sets up network structures for field communication
• Conducts communication testing for field sites
• Develops system application specifications utilizing business knowledge and tests developed programs to ensure proper functionality and implementation
• Establishes processes to resolve problems and provides top tier support to system operators and field personnel on the use of field SCADA systems
• Develops and maintains system documentation, and documents current field site network configuration and user requirements
• Provides Communication (SAT) PLC Programming, Wonderware and/or ClearSCADA software maintenance, and the upkeep of field server and data
• Relocates technical equipment to and from an assigned location
• Work with all departments and 3rdparty companies concerning SCADA
• Assist I&E group with troubleshooting field issues

Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their superior, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete.

Experience

A minimum of three years of on-the-job experience is required.

Preferred experience: Control operations experience.

Education Level

A minimum of an Associates Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Telecommunications or related field, or the equivalent combination of education and related experience is required.

Preferred education: A Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Telecommunications or related field.

Required Skills

Mid-level knowledge of PLC programming, pipeline and/or terminal software, and ability to apply this knowledge to pipeline and/or terminal operations and technology. Working knowledge of DOT safety rules and regulations. Good organizational, time‑management, ability to effectively communicate with others, both in written and verbal communication, ability to perform basic mathematical calculations. Experience with VSAT communication, Telvent OaSys DNA SCADA software, PLC equipment, Juniper network equipment, Wonderware Intouch software, ClearSCADA software, Top Tech software, Telvent Guardian software. Basic reading and writing skills.

Preferred skills: Experience with PLC 9030/versamax hardware and Proficy Machine Edition. Knowledge/experience with Top Tech TMS 6 and/or Telvent Guardian software.

Supervisory/Managerial Responsibility

May manage contractors and supplier representatives and direct or lead the work of others from time to time.

Work Conditions

Office and field based with up to 50% travel by land and air required. Petroleum refinery, warehouse/plant environment, out‑of‑doors environment, and driver based environment including but not limited to chemicals, pressure vessels, tanks, rotating equipment, loud noises, vibrations, working in confined spaces, and exposure to the risk of electrical shock. Subject to all temperatures including outdoors, weather and varying road conditions.
