Job summary

The City of Grand Rapids is seeking an Instrument Technician to install, test, repair, commission, and calibrate instruments and controls at our Water and Wastewater facilities. You will work under supervision and train staff while supporting PLCs, SCADA, and network infrastructure.

Applicants should have two years of electronics coursework or an associate degree, plus four years of related experience. CCNA is preferred. The role is full-time and on-site, with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

Two years of college-level electronics coursework or an associate’s degree in Electronics Technology or related field.
Four years of progressively responsible experience in instrument calibration, controls, troubleshooting, and/or maintenance.
Equivalents considered: training, education, and experience providing the required skills.
Preferred: Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).

Responsibilities

Calibrate, test, repair, commission and calibrate instruments and controls at Water and Wastewater facilities.
Troubleshoot and repair PLCs, HMI, and SCADA network infrastructure with various software.
Provide end-user training and assist in writing bid material specifications.
Read blueprints and schematics and update as necessary.
Install and maintain network infrastructure and peripheral devices.
