Job summary

City of Hutchinson is seeking an Engineering Systems Technician to maintain and calibrate SCADA networks across water and wastewater facilities. Under supervision, you\u2019ll program PLCs, RTUs, and instrumentation, ensuring reliable operation of critical infrastructure.

The role emphasizes hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting, and coordination with GIS and Cityworks teams. A strong electronics background and ability to work with contractors are essential; the city offers competitive benefits

Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent.
Minimum 2 years technical training in electronic maintenance is desirable.
Minimum of 1–2 years related electronics/radio equipment repair experience.

Responsibilities

Perform daily inspections and adjustments on instrumentation and control systems used to monitor and operate facilities.
Test, maintain and calibrate electronic control equipment including PLCs, RTUs and related systems.
Modify and configure control circuits; support system modifications for temporary operations.
Coordinate with outside contractors and vendors for installations and maintenance.
Monitor SCADA systems, prepare reports and manage asset records.
Work with GIS databases and assist staff with GIS programs.
Provide software administration support for Cityworks and related systems.
