Job summary

ON.energy is seeking a SCADA Engineer to own core Ignition config, tag structures, UDT setup, and field device communication. You will build tools to speed up SCADA configuration and support HMI and controls teams across battery storage systems and grid assets.

Responsibilities include MQTT-based SCADA design, PLC integration, and historical data management. Ideal candidates have 2–5 years with Ignition and strong scripting, debugging, and documentation skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 2-5 years hands-on Ignition experience: tag configuration, UDT setup, device connections, scripting.
• Experience with Vision or Perspective modules is a plus.
• Knowledge of MQTT, Modbus TCP/RTU, OPC UA, or DNP3.
• Experience building or maintaining scripts/tools for SCADA configuration, deployment, or validation.
• Strong troubleshooting across software and field hardware.

Responsibilities

• Configure and maintain SCADA tags, UDTs, and device connections in Ignition.
• Design and maintain MQTT communication for SCADA, including broker and topic structure.
• Integrate SCADA with PLCs and field devices using MQTT, Modbus, OPC UA, DNP3.
• Develop tools to support the HMI and controls teams (automation scripts, validation utilities).
• Implement deployment automation and configuration comparison workflows.
• Improve SCADA performance, reliability, and scalability across BESS and grid assets.
• Troubleshoot SCADA and communication issues in dev and live environments.
• Support commissioning activities and alarm validation.
• Document SCADA standards, tag maps, and MQTT structures for long-term maintainability.
• Contribute to alarm management and SCADA standards development.
• Design scalable SCADA architectures across OT, DMZ, and Cloud, including Ignition Gateway, MQTT, and historian integrations.
• Propose improvements through architecture reviews to boost reliability.
