Job summary

FirstEnergy is seeking a Supervisory Control & Data Acquisition (SCADA) commissioning engineer to join the Transmission Control Center team, supporting EMS real-time operations. This on-site role can be filled in Akron, OH or Fairmont, WV, focusing on commissioning for IT-managed SCADA and RTU field equipment.

You’ll coordinate cross-group activities, perform schedules and change control, and provide field support to ensure reliable transmission system operations.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited engineering degree required; PE license or ABET-equivalent plus advanced degree acceptable.
• FE certificate preferred.
• Minimum two years engineering experience.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate engineering and commissioning activities across groups in the SCADA delivery process.
• Perform resource scheduling, point-to-point checkouts, troubleshooting, inventory maintenance, and change-control activities.
• Issue as-left settings after commissioning.
• Provide second-level field support for commissioning activities.
• Manage schedules and coordinate changes per department procedures.
• Oversee SCADA asset lifecycles and maintenance programs for RTUs and equipment.
• Develop understanding of FirstEnergy Transmission Operations processes and industry developments.
