Job summary

FirstEnergy Corp is seeking a SCADA commissioning engineer to join the Transmission Control Center, supporting the EMS. This on-site role can be filled in Akron, OH or Fairmont, WV, and involves commissioning IT-managed SCADA and RTU field equipment, enforcing change control and regulatory compliance.

You will work with engineers and analysts, coordinate resources, perform checkout activities, provide second-level field support, and help maintain SCADA asset lifecycles while expanding knowledge

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Civil or Mechanical Engineering from ABET-accredited institution required.
• FE certificate preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years engineering experience required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate engineering and commissioning activities with multiple groups across FirstEnergy SCADA delivery.
• Perform resource scheduling, point-to-point checkouts, troubleshooting, inventory maintenance and change control tasks.
• Issue as-left settings and provide second-level field support for commissioning activities.
• Manage schedules and coordinate changes following department procedures.
• Maintain SCADA asset lifecycles and coordinate RTU maintenance programs.
• Collaborate with staff to identify improvements aligning with business needs.
• Develop understanding of FirstEnergy Transmission Operations processes and industry developments.
