About the PositionAs a mid-level SCADA & Automation Engineer in the SCADA & Automation group, you will be responsible for performing engineering design and analysis under the responsible charge of a Professional Engineer. You will be responsible for supporting client projects and providing a quality deliverable that is on time and within the defined budget.Salary Range: $75,000 - $110,000 / yearThe salary range above is based upon the Denver, Colorado labor market.This opportunity is available to both local / in-office (Lakewood, CO) and full-time remote candidates.Essential ResponsibilitiesDesigns retrofit or new SCADA and control systems for substations, power plants, wind farms, solar plants, and other electrical power facilitiesDevelops high-level SCADA block diagram indicating protocols, communications media, networking, addressing, and data flowCoordinates SCADA scope on larger projects ensuring that vendors, owners, Telco/T1/Fiber providers, and other stakeholders are communicating clearly and working efficiently toward an integrated solutionDevelops a complete design package from a SCADA block diagram, including:SCADA panel elevation drawingsEquipment Bill of MaterialsSchematics and Wiring DiagramsData mapping and points listsPLC, Data concentrator, firewall, managed switch, and HMI settings filesNERC CIP documentation or procedures as necessaryFactory or On-site testing and commissioning of the SCADA system, including:Installing any remaining cables, fibers, or equipment as necessaryTroubleshooting and resolving communications issuesProgramming of all devicesEnd-to-end functional testing of all points to local devices, HMI, control room, and other data off-taker facilitiesAssists with project planning, scheduling, and coordination for all size projectsProvides technical leadershipWorks with other project team members and produce project deliverables as requiredMust HaveEducation: Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited institution, electric power option preferredExperience: 1 – 4 years of relevant engineering or field experienceLicensure: FE, PE is a plus, but not requiredExperience with AutoCADProficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and other computer softwarePossesses effective written and oral communications skillsGood interpersonal and people skillsApplicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basisNice to HaveProficiency with common protocols such as DNP3.0, Modbus, SEL, OPC and IEC 61850Proficiency with RTU software and hardware platforms (old and new) such as SEL-RTAC, OrionLX, GE-D20, and othersProficiency with PLC hardware selection and programmingKnowledgeable of IEC 61131 Programming StandardsKnowledgeable in NERC CIP requirementsProficiency with device integrationProficiency with power plant networking (security, firewalls, managed switches)Proficiency with designing and developing intuitive HMI screensProficiency at developing and carrying out factory and site acceptance testingWorking ConditionsWork Environment:Work is performed in an office setting and some field work may be requiredTravel:Typical: 15 – 25%Physical Activities:Must be able to lift 25lbs.About NEI Electric Power EngineeringServing Others.
