Job summary

Zions Bancorporation in Midvale, UT is seeking an SBA Underwriter to assess and approve commercial loan applications, including 7a, Express, and 504 loans, with a focus on risk, compliance, and lending policies.

You will compile cash flow analyses, collateral reviews and audits, present findings with the Relationship Manager, and support Credit Approvers in complex decisions while ensuring adherence to banking laws and SBA standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 1 year in commercial or small business underwriting.
• Knowledge of commercial lending policies and CRE/small business underwriting.
• Ability to analyze financial statements, debt ratios and cash flows.
• Strong judgment, discretion, and customer-relations skills.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite SBA loans (7a, Express, 504) ensuring adherence to SBA SOP, bank policies and regulations.
• Compile data for credit packages including spreads, cash flow, collateral, appraisals and audits.
• Present recommendations to Credit Approvers with RM for renewals and new loans.
• Evaluate and form opinions on commercial, CRE and/or business loan applications.
• Spread financial statements, identify strengths/ weaknesses, provide detailed credit analysis.
• Identify risk and mitigating factors for approval.
• Respond to inquiries and discuss exceptions with internal/external stakeholders.
• Collaborate with RM on complex loan structuring and rate discussions.
• May have authority to approve loans beyond guidelines; senior level may lead second-level approvals.
