JOB TITLE : SBA Business Development Officer (VP / SVP)

REPORTS TO : Government Lending SVP / Director of Sales

CLASSIFICATION : EXEMPT

LOCATION : Phoenix HQ Office & Hybrid

SUMMARY :

We seek highly competitive, accountable business development officers specializing in originating SBA government-guaranteed loans (7A and 504). RESPONSIBILITIES :
  • Develop and cultivate new SBA lending opportunities, including 7A and 504 programs.
  • Build and network prospects using internal and external referral sources, following up on marketing leads.
  • Source and procure SBA loan products to grow the portfolio.
  • Gather applications, analyze financial data, and present packages within credit policy.
  • Provide financial counsel to clients using our proprietary tools.
  • Establish relationships with internal Business Banking Relationship Managers to expand banking relationships.
  • Optionally originate non-SBA, C&I commercial, and CRE loans.
  • Generate new SBA loans aligned with goals and objectives.
  • Pre-screen loans for structure, conformity, and eligibility.
  • Identify client issues and obtain sufficient information for analysis.
  • Maintain relationships with bank officers, centers of influence, and referral sources.
  • Assist with cross-selling banking services.
  • Prepare loan consideration memos for the credit department.
  • Guide clients through the loan process, ensuring all documentation is obtained and follow-ups are completed.
  • Ensure compliance with all laws and regulations, including training requirements.
  • Participate in community and business functions to promote the bank and develop referral contacts.
QUALIFICATIONS :

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • 2 to 25 years of successful SBA lending/sales experience.
  • Knowledge of SBA products and policies.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Team player capable of multi-tasking.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; interested in our innovative technology solutions.
  • Ability to work independently and develop profitable relationships.
  • Strong financial analysis skills, including cash flow, balance sheets, ratios, collateral, and industry analysis.
Education & Experience :
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • SBA 7A and/or 504 experience required.
ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS :
  • Ability to lift at least 20 lbs.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, bend, and stoop.
  • Sitting, standing, and driving for 90% of the time.
  • Keyboard use up to 8 hours.
  • Travel may be required.

This role may be in-office or work from home, subject to our WFH policy.
